Real World VR, is Melbourne’s flagship XR-VR/AR/MR event and presents a series of high-quality speakers and panelists. Topics include Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, Drones, 3D Printing, Simulators and more.
The event includes a speakers forum, Q&A, panel, equipment demonstrations, showcase & networking. We facilitate engage, support, educate, influence, promote, connect and inspire audiences, enthusiasts, industry, developers, producers, filmmakers, animators and the XR – VR/AR/MR community / industry – all welcome. Rhyan Cook, Founder – Oasis VR, Ballarat (VR, 3D Printing, Education)
Rhyan has a background working in computer software and cutting-edge electronics fields. As a tech entrepreneur, he founded startups including a virtual reality gaming centre and various 3D printing businesses. Rhyan is currently working within the blockchain space on distributed cloud computing with a focus on virtual economies. With a focus on education rather than just entertainment, Rhyan looks to bring Australian schools up to speed within the realm of digital literacy.
Casey Thomas, CEO Project Lead – Dark Shadow Studio (Drone Simulator/VR)
Casey studied design, production and business management at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment and proceeded to work in a fast upscale environment, developing virtual reality games for the public and has been in the gaming industry since 1995. Passionate about virtual reality and drones, the move to Melbourne’s fastest growing gaming scene was a natural fit. With support from the local games community the Arcade, IGDA and Creative Victoria Casey has become the CEO of her own business called Dark Shadow Studio.
Emily Harridge, Post Production & VR/AR Development Manager – eg+ (agency, Melbourne)
Emily is a Post-production and VR specialist and has over 18 years experience in broadcast design, production and animation. Emily has worked with some of the biggest brands on television including Masterchef Australia, the Voice, Neighbours, Fox Sports AFL, Australia’s Next Top Model, Zoos Victoria, Mazda, The Logie Awards, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Big Brother and The ARIA Music Awards.
